Happy Columbus Day Weekend
Ethan got a 5 day weekend out of it. Well, really Monday he has off for the holiday, and he had Thursday and Friday off for parent/teacher conferences. Almost had six and a half since I was called in by the nurse to get him Tuesday for a fever and he fell asleep twice in class. He lost a tooth that night, and the next morning he was fine. He almost caught "The Tooth Fairy" but I played it off OK. As I left the room, he told me to make sure I left his door open enough so that she easily could walk in. He had previously and quite sternly told me how I "had better go to bed early so she could some at a reasonable hour."
The meeting with Ethan's teacher went well. The teacher said Ethan is well ahead of where he needs to be by the end of the year, so we just need to keep working on the writing. He gets very impatient because he thinks much faster than he writes, so it is "not as neat as it can be." He keeps asking me to teach him cursive, and I told him I would think about it if he gets neater with the printing. We'll see. He has been giving himself homework since he is bored with the class stuff. I keep finding papers with math problems that he writes for himself.
The basement is "SO CLOSE" to being done. The pictures are on the other computer, so I'll post a few next time. We have all of the painting done (I love the color - kind of a slate blue), now we just have to do the floor. We're going to do the snap-together laminate for the middle area and carpet on the stairs. We're getting Ethan's playroom set up. He got to pick the color (with our approval), which was thankfully also blue (a light blue called "favorite socks"). He originally wanted red, but when I said maybe we could do one red wall (sound familiar Tracie?) he decided against it. When he then picked blue, I asked what kind of blue, he picked navy. Again, a little too extreme for such a small basement playroom. We tried to find some posters today but all we could find of Star Wars was a Yoda poster (which we got, I was just surprised we couldn't find anything else), and the only Spongebob one we found was a poster version of a little plaque he already has from a fair for popping balloons with darts.
Soccer is over. (insert me smiling here). He was officially their best goalie, but (and I know this sounds bad or mean or whatever) one of the worst field players. He just meandered around and didn't want to get anywhere near the ball. One kick too many in the beginning just set him apart from it.
So I was watching Forensic Files earlier this week and they were doing a case of a girl who suspiciously fell off of a cliff in California. She had high amounts of a certain medication in her system. I knew the name sounded familiar. They were saying how you have to be careful with it because a regular dose can really affect a person, and too much can make a person literally fall asleep standing up. Lo-and-behold, it is the medicine I am on!! When I told the doctor I felt like a zombie, I wasn't that far off after all! I really wasn't exaggerating. She cut my dose to less than half. I need to go back next week for follow up. Yes, the medicine is helping with the headaches, but I don't want to keep taking it.
Well, Blogger won't let me post any photos anyway, so I'll try to get some next time. They all had problems while uploading. Sorry. And I'll try to not wait so long to update again so I won't be so long winded.
