I AM EMPLOYED!!!!!!

Did you see the fireworks at 8:20 CST today? They were because I got a job. I am so excited!! I start Tuesday.

Jake seems to be adjusting pretty well. His favorite place to sleep is on someone. Not near someone, but ON them. Glen is making him a sleeping post. Since he likes to be up high, we have to reverse baby-proof the place. Anything on the ground is safe, but he keeps eyeing the mantle. He can easily jump onto the tall dressers, so I know he can do it. This is only about 3 feet high.

Ethan came home from school Monday and went in to wake Jake up from his mid-afternoon nap (on my bed). He had already had his afternoon and early afternoon naps, so he was ready to rock. He was quite happy to see Ethan and started purring immediately.

When Ethan does his homework at the kitchen island, Jake sits right next to him. They both have their afternoon snack together before playing for a while. I would say they are quite good buddies.

We got a lot of snow this week. Ethan had 2 snow days, so they will have to make them up at the end of the year. Unfortunately, one of them was Valentine's Day, but the party is rescheduled for today. It's fun to play in the snow, but it is so frigigly freezing, it's hard to stay out in it for too long.

I got an action shot of a snowball being thrown at Glen while he was trying to dig out my basement well. I need to get a cover for it so when I'm in my room I'm not looking out the window at a wall of snow.

OK, it's really hard to type with a cat in the lap, so I'm gonna sign out. Adios amigos.

Congratulations. It's a boy!

Yes, we have an unexpected new male member in the household. His name is Jake.

That happens to be the name of Ethan's best friend, but it was already his name when we got him. So far (we've had him for about 3 hours) he seems to be adjusting pretty well. Ethan wants him to stay in his room, which is crowded enough already, so we'll see how things go.

This morning Glen states that he wants to go get a cat. TODAY. He spent last night downstairs since he is getting over being sick and hacking and coughing. The animal shelter had their adoption ads on the local channel and I guess it gave him the bug. We can't get a dog since we don't have a fence yet. This summer for sure for that, when I have a job. They sure aren't cheap! One definite drawback of having a big yard.
ANYWAY... we went to look at this place. They have a great facility. Way too many cuties to choose from, but tons of people looking. As expected, most ended up adopting kittens, which are cute and nice and all, but they had so many older cats. They have it good there, though. Their "playground equipment" is incredible. Glen has to make something, as they are $125 and up at the store. Jake is 4, and that's about all I know. He likes to talk, which is the opposite of Max, who never barked. Ethan is in heaven. I walked past his room and he was in bed. I asked if he was feeling sick again, since he was home from school again on Friday, and he answers "No, I'm just tired. Training a cat sure is a lot of work!" He's on the floor playing with him now and it's just the cutest thing listening to him talk to him. He just said "It's fun having a buddy but it's a lot of responsibity."

OK, I gotta go make dinner. I just realized it's after 7. Wish us luck tonight.

So it wasn't that soon...

I haven't been on the computer much lately, except to do the Typing Tutor I checked out from the library that I had to return today. I'm still job hunting and I really should learn to type the correct way, but I really don't think I ever will. I type pretty fast my own way, but I will fail any blindfolded test. Hmmm...

Anyhoo... here are a few pictures of Ethan's derby car. He was #7 (even though the car says 99) and he came in 7th. It was the only car with glitter. Or a Star Wars figure (the top of a Pez dispenser). Here's a side view, and a top view so you can see the flames on the hood.

This is the Hot Wheels (or maybe it's a Matchbox?) car he went off of as a model to carve it. Glen helped with the power tools, but Ethan did most of the work.

After doing that model, he was really excited to make another model, so we got this Mitchell Bomber from Hobby Lobby. We thought it would be a good starter kit, since it required no glue or paint. Well, he finished it in about 10 minutes (literally), so I think next time we'll do the glue/paint ones.

What else... Ethan stayed home today and yesterday with a fever. That was fun. Every time it would come down and he started to feel better, it would spike back up again. Our thermometer doesn't seem very accurate, so I'm never sure what the temperature really was. Hot, but not TOO hot. He enjoyed the 1am bath last night. I think he'll be OK for school tomorrow, but he may try to weasel out of it since it's PE day and he has roller skating for PE this month and he hates it. His best friend broke (twisted) his knee doing it last year, and it just freaked him out about it. Since I have no job yet, I can go volunteer to help. The PE teacher is VERY pregnant, so she can't do too much with a bunch of flailing kids falling all over the place. I speak from last year's experience.
Anything else? Our washing machine broke, so we got a new one. It is surprisingly quiet, which is quite nice since our old one would jump around during the spin cycle. I got another haircut - this has to be a record - 2 cuts within 7 months! I think the most often I usually get a cut is every 2-3 years. I absolutely hate it, so I'm glad my hair grows fast. The girl did everything I told her NOT to do. At least the grays are gone. I hope I get a job interview soon, so I want to look a little more professional than a half gray ponytail. So is it grEy or grAy. I dunno...
Last odd fact - we had to get Ethan new tennis shoes last week, and now his are almost the same size as mine. I kid you not. I shall post a side-by-side picture next time to prove it. I almost tried to put his shoes on before I realized they weren't mine. I really thought I had a few more years before this kind of thing happened.
Well, this should be good enough for now. Thanks for reading.
