Go Kiefer!!

So I only caught the last 20 minutes of the Emmy's. Who cares! I got to see Kiefer and 24 win!! WOO HOO!!!! Ya, baby!! 'Nuff said. Good night.

Edited to add:
Just saw that my favorite obsessive, compulsive detective Monk (Tony Shalhoub) won, too. Double yay. That is such a funny show. If you have never seen it you really should check it out.

School in session!

Is it wrong to say "yay!"? So far, so good. He loves his new teacher. It's her first year teaching, just like his kindergarten teacher last year. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any of his good friends in his class with him. There are 2 girls from kindergarten, and that's it. Mr. Social Butterfly will have no trouble making new friends, though. On the first day, I took him in since I had a few bags full of supplies that they required us to bring. I was there maybe 5 minutes, and he motions over to some other parents to the side and says "How about you either go over there with them, or you can leave now." OK. I guess I'll go! He told me that he loves his teacher so much that if she was available, he would love to adopt her.

A few weeks ago our neighbor had his third birthday and was going to have a tethered hot air balloon. Ethan said he would not go up in it, "NO WAY!" The wind was too strong (look at the left side and you can see it indented), so it didn't end up going up, but I think the kids had fun just watching it inflate. It was in the empty lot next door (which was recently sold, so we may have a neighbor sometime soon after all!).

His favorite thing to do lately is play "store". He is the proud owner of "Jedi Toys" (where the force is always with you), and he has a cash register now (instead of the piano) that we got after I took pictures. In the beginning, he took the credit card (courtesy of a million pre-approved Discover Cards) and slid it in the crack of the drawer, and his favorite thing was asking if I wanted cash back. He has his stuff for sale on the desk part of his dresser, and he has a headset in case he has to call another store if something is out of stock (his idea, not mine!). Last time we played, he wanted me to make some receipts. So now he writes the name of the toy and the price.

I guess that's all for now. I have to download the soccer photos, but that's a whole story by itself.

Hair, or lack thereof. . .

This may be the only post with photos of me in it. There is a reason I take all of the pictures!
So here is the before. Excuse the bathroom photos but I had to take them myself. Last time I got my hair chopped I forgot to take before shots. Since I went to the cosmetology school, I told the girl if turned out OK, she could have before and after shot for her portfolio.

Here you can see my cool new camera, too. LOVE it.

So, not too bad for $33 bucks! She didn't charge me for the extra dye. Most people use 40 something, I used over 200.
Now Glen can get off my back about getting my hair cut. I think it was probably more the grey that annoyed him. You can't see it all that much in these photos, but I had quite a bit.

So today we are registering Ethan for school. In my last post I mentioned it's freakin' me out. Here's my horoscope for today:

Heavy feelings are weighing you down, but you don't have to solve or get rid of them. In fact, acknowledging that they're there might be enough to give you a little breathing room. The sooner you address them, the better.

Kinda weird, huh?
That's all for now.

A new 'do and quick hello.

Well, I finally got my hair cut. And colored. After putting it off for what seems like forever, I went to the cosmetology school and had a student do it. I figure that for MUCH cheaper, and supervised, a student could most likely do just as good of a job as anyone else. Besides, my hair grows so fast that if it turned out bad, it would grow out quick enough, right? Well, it turned out just fine. They hacked off about 10 inches before they even started doing anything else. I think I lost 5 pounds in about 30 seconds! Funny thing is, the student lives right around the corner from me. Ethan says it looks good, but I don't look like his mom anymore. That could be interpreted in a few ways, I think that I'll take it as a compliment. I'll try and get a picture tomorrow.

Other than that, nothing new here. Ethan got and read a new "Captain Underpants" book the other day. It's a pretty good sized book. Actually, I believe it was a "Super Diaper Baby" book. Captain Underpants lost his super-powers to Diaper Baby and Diaper Dog. He would not go to bed until he finished reading it. I figure it's still summer. If he wants to stay up late to read, who am I to say no!? It was the cutest thing listening to him read it out loud (I think his audience was his bear) and cracking up over the jokes. I think he finally finished right before midnight.
He registers for the first grade tomorrow. Why does that freak me out? I didn't get weirded out for Kindergarten. Maybe since first grade has a number, it seems so much older? I dunno, but I suddenly feel like I have a full-grown boy on my hands.

Quick "funny" before I go, in case anyone is actually reading this!
Last night we had a thunderstorm so Ethan came into our room. This morning, I told him that he had better not get used to sleeping in our bed, especially since he likes to sleep sideways. His response is "I know, I know. It's a bed for a King and a Queen. NOT a King and a Queen and their son!" I assume he was referring to the fact we have a King sized bed, since we have never referred to ourselves as King and Queen before!

That's all for now.

Second try

Let's try again. I resized and lowered the resolution.

I think it worked. Here are a few more.
This is from our Cardinals game on Tracie's birthday. I haven't done the baseball ones yet.

Here are the boys in the backyard on the 4th. The sparkler pictures didn't turn out that great.

Just another picture that I think is cute, from a few years back.

I'll make sure this one is on the bottom since it's got the gross huge teeth (or lack thereof) photo.

OK. That's good for now. I have to save something for another day. We're hoping to meet Glen up at Toys R Us when he gets off work tonight. I called and they have a few pools left, but I think we need the CRV to get one home. Hope you're doing well. Drop me a line and say hi if you get a chance.

Thought I'd share. . .

but I can't. Blogger isn't letting me upload my layouts. I'll resize them and try it again later. Maybe they're too big? I dunno. I came across some older photos of Ethan and wanted to do something with them. That will have to wait, though.
Ethan and I are going on a pool hunt today. I told him that we may not find one, we're a bit late in the season, but when we finally get our fence up (hopefully by early Fall) it will still be warm enough to use it, so we should just get one if we can. (That sentence was entirely too long.)
It's only 95 degrees outside. It's supposed to cool off more tomorrow. Having a basement in this heat sure is nice. It's so much cooler down there. Ethan doesn't even mind being down there as much anymore. He hated it for a while, but now that my room is pretty much finished it's not so "cementy." I will post a few photos of that after I clean it up more. I had it almost all done when Glen decided to clean his workshop and a BUNCH of boxes ended up in my room, so I have to re-clean and organize before I can take pictures.
Speaking of pictures, Tracie - have you downloaded the photos from the broken camera yet? Don't forget to send me some. I hope your scrapbook is going well. One of the layouts I just tried to post was the Arch.
OK - I'll be back later unless the cable goes down again from the heat. Then I have to wait 'til it cools down.
Well, it let me upload a single photo, so here are 3 generations "Shucking Corn" at Grandpa's house on Sunday. Not the greatest angle, but I didn't have much choice.

There were 5 adults, 2 kids, and about 30 ears of corn. Needless to say, there were leftovers!
